A subsidiary of the MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority), Metro-North was founded in 1983. The Metro North (New Haven Line) Railroad is the second-largest commuter line in the United States, providing more than 240,000 customer trips each weekday and some 71,800,000 trips per year. It carries passengers between New York City's Grand Central Terminal and New Haven, with connecting service from Stamford to New Canaan, South Norwalk to Danbury, and Bridgeport to Waterbury.
