Located 2 miles west of Bloomfield on Route 185, Penwood State Park sits atop the northerly portion of the Talcott Mountain Range.
This park was gifted to the people of Connecticut by Curtis H. Veeder in 1944. Veeder requested only that his beloved hilltop, "be kept in a natural state so that those who love nature may enjoy this property as I have enjoyed it."
Popular activities at this 787-acre park include biking, picnicking, skiing and visiting the interpretive nature trail. Also being handicapped accessible they have picnic shelters and tables. Camping is unavailable. Pets on a leash are permitted in picnic areas and on hiking trails.
