Among New Castle's few surviving colonial buildings is the elegant brick mansion, the Amstel House. A fine example of early American Georgian architecture, the Amstel House, built by Dr. John Finney, reflects the style and refinement of the colonial city's early prosperity. The Amstel House is graced with original woodworking and architectural details. The Amstel House interprets 18th and 19th century life in New Castle, and exhibits many artifacts and antiques associated with the town's early history.
