Commodore Ralph Munroe, an area pioneer and noted designer of shallow-draft ships, built this cottage in 1891 and later enlarged it by raising the seven rooms to accommodate another floor underneath. Most furnishings belonged to Munroe, and many of his photographs are displayed. A boat house is also on the property; the cottage may be viewed only by guided tour. Grounds open Friday-Sunday, 9am-4pm; cottage tours given at 10 and 11:30am, 1 and 2:30pm. Closed New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
