Founded in 1938, the 744-bed Broward General Medical Center is the County's oldest, largest and most complete referral medical center. It annually admits 24,000 patients, delivers 3,000 babies and handles more than 80,000 emergencies.
Broward General's medical firsts include Cardiac Catheterization, Neonatal Intensive Care and full-time physician staffing in the emergency department. Accreditations include Broward County's first sleep laboratory accredited by the American Sleep Disorders Association as well the first cancer program approved by the American College of Surgeons in Broward County.
