Okeechobee is located in Okeechobee County, northwest of West Palm Beach between Indiantown and Arcadia along Highway 70, near Lake Okeechobee, Kissimmee River and the Brighton Seminole Indian Reservation.
The Okeechobee Territory is managed by the Army Corps of Engineers to preserve the eight-mile wide littoral zone which surrounds the Lake and is the habitat for Lake Okeechobee's rare and exotic wildlife, including ibis, herons, woodstorks and eagles.
