From its beginning in 1978 as an outgrowth of the Daytona Beach Community College's new photography classes, this unique program has grown to become the only museum in the Southeast (and one of only 12 in the country) devoted entirely to photography. A new 10,000-sq-ft facility, begun in 1987, features state-of-the-art storage facilities and nearly eight times the museum's former exhibition space. The Museum hosts changing exhibits of both early and contemporary photographic works, as well as lectures, symposia, and children's programs; permanent collections of prints may be viewed and the museum's extensive library is accessible to the public for study. Docent guided tours are available. The museum is open daily, located on the Daytona Beach Community College campus. Call for hours and scheduled events.
