Search Lyon

Located at the confluence of the Rhone and Saone rivers, two hours from Paris via TGV, Lyon is the capital of the Rhone-Alpes region and is the third-largest city in France. The heart of the city is the Presquile, a narrow strip of land wedged between the Rhone and Saone rivers, home to a number of fine museums. Vieux Lyon (Old Lyon) lies on the west bank of the Saone and is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. La Croix Rousse, the old silk-weavers district, lies just north of the Presquile and is still dotted with the covered alleyways known as traboules formerly used by the merchants to transport their delicate wares in harsh weather. La Part-Dieu, the modern business district, lies on the east bank of the Rhone and is home to the TGV station.
