Located 50 km west of Cluny, the town of Paray-le-Monial straddles the River Bourbince and the Canal du Centre. The towns main attraction is the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, still an important French pilgrimage site today. Also worth a visit is the Maison Joyet, a Renaissance mansion completed between 1525 and 1528. Now home to the Town Hall, the richly ornamented building dominates place Guignaud.
