Created in the 1950s by Paris art dealers Aime and Marguerite Maeght, the museum, designed by Catalan architect Jose-Luis Sert with contributions from artists such as Miro and Chagall, houses one of the finest collections of modern art in Europe, including works by Bonnard, Braque, Kandinsky and Matisse. The museum grounds are decorated with sculpture, mobiles and mosaics by Calder, Miro and Giacometti, among others. The foundation also hosts summer concerts and art film screenings.
