Cartersville is located in Bartow County, of which it is the county seat, northwest of Marietta along Interstate 75 near Allatoona Lake in the Mountains Region of the state. Cartersville is part of the Atlanta, Georgia metro area.
It was named after Col. Farish Carter, landowner.
