The 749,268 acres of the Chattahoochee National Forest are in northern Georgia and 113,100 acres of the Oconee National Forest are in central Georgia. Both areas contribute to the state's timber production. Within the forests are campsites, picnic areas, wilderness areas, trails on the Chattooga National Wild and Scenic River.
Brasstown Bald Visitor Center in Chattahoochee National Forest off Hwy 180 near Blairsvill is open daily in the summer.
