The landscape of health care today has changed greatly since 1961, and DeKalb Medical Center has kept pace with the changes. During the 1980s, DeKalb Medical Center took major steps toward making community-based healthcare a reality in DeKalb County by adding several new services designed to meet the community's needs. They included the Outpatient Surgery Center, Pain Center, Diagnostic and Treatment Center, Diagnostic Imaging Center, Diagnostic Breast Center, The Women's Wellness Center (later expanded to include offerings for men and renamed The Wellness Center), Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, Cancer Center and three neighborhood FamilyCare Centers.
The hospital and its related facilities offer comprehensive health and wellness services throughout DeKalb County and the region, serving more than 545,000 patients during its last fiscal year.
