The Island Heritage Gallery includes a replica of a Hawaiian grass house with thatched palm roof and floor mats, native tools made from basalt rock and fiber art using coconut, pandanus and ieie, and a pliable air root.

Other displays explain the caste system and show aspects of Japanese, Chinese and Filipino culture. A bust of Mark Twain is carved in a piece of monkeypod tree that he planted in 1866. Upstairs is the Earth Heritage Gallery.

This is a first-class display of minerals and rocks including thunder eggs, agates, jaspers, mezolite and lava, many from the original collection of Rev Lyman. Other displays show flora and fauna, paperweights, shells and crystals.

Annual Maui Steel Guitar Festival Maui HI April19-21 Featured performers will also conduct on-site school visits to various Maui schools to educate and and inform Maui's youth about the Hawaiian steel guitar. These visits, targeted specifically for students of these schools, includes both educational sessions and entertainment by the visiting performers.

Merrie Monarch Festival Hilo HI June7-9 Merrie Monarch Festival is a week-long cultural event held annually in Hilo on the island of Hawaii. Festivities start on Easter Sunday and culminate with the Hula competition events at the Edith Kanaka'ole Tennis Stadium - Miss Aloha Hula on Thursday, Hula Kahiko on Friday, and Hula 'Auana on Saturday.
