Kalaupapa Hawaii 96742
Kalaupapa is located in Kalawao County on the north-central coast of Molokai Island
, northeast of Kualapuu
near Kahiu Point, Kauhako Crater, and the Molokai Forest Reserve.
This is the former site of Father Damien's leprosy colony. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter signed a law making Kalaupapa a National Historic Park. This area is open to the public, but you must be 16 years of age to visit. Once you reach the peninsula, a tour guide will tell you stories of those banished to this "prison in paradise."
