This well-known tourist attraction in Waimea-Kamuela was opened in 1975 by Richard Smart, a ranch owner and descendant of John Palmer Parker. He died in 1992 and left this testimony to himself and his heirs.

The history of ranching and this period is captured in life-size dioramas and a 22 minute video that depicts the growth of the ranch. Tours are also available of Mana, the original koa wood cabin of the patriarch.

Puuopelu, its successor and the Smart family home, is also open for tours. Admission is charged separately or together for the Visitor Center and Museum and the Historic Homes.
