Spouting Horn

Search Kukuiula Hawaii

A blowhole that shoots water into the air from an old lava tube. Visitors should stick to the walkways because the slippery rocks can be hazardous to the unwary.

Legend has it that Mo'o, a giant female lizard, guards the coastline and you can hear her moans. It actually is an old lava tube with an underwater horn that channels the sea swells and shoots water into the air. The phenomenon is most impressive at high tide.
