Elk Rock State Park is located on Lake Red Rock, one of Iowa's large impoundments.

Lake Red Rock and the Des Moines River provide great fishing with walleye and crappie being the most common fish caught in this area.

Elk Rock provides a fine setting for camping and in addition to a small conventional campground, an equestrian campground featuring 60 sites, 24 with electrical hookups is also provided.

Knoxville is seven miles south on Highway 14.
