Minidoka National Wildlife Refuge

Search Rupert Idaho

Twenty thousand acres of open waters, marshes and uplands is the right recipe for wildlife habitat. The refuge is home to hundreds of kinds of mammals, waterfowl, and birds of prey, including bald eagles and peregrine falcons.

Take your camera and bring home some memories or simply stand and stare at the variety of wildlife. Hiking, camping and hunting are other activities you might enjoy. For those who like to get their feet wet, there is boating, water skiing, wind surfing, and fishing for trout, bass and perch on Lake Walcott. The newly renovated Walcott Park and Campground features picnic sites and boat launch facilities. Guided tours through the Minidoka Dam, built near the turn of the century, are also available.
