Coffeen Lake

Coffeen Lake is located in southwestern Illinois in southeastern Montgomery County about 2 miles west-southwest of Coffeen just south of SR 185. It was created in 1963 as a cooling lake for the Coffeen Power Station.

The lake has about 50 miles of shoreline and averages nearly 20 feet deep with a maximum depth of about 60 feet. It supports 22 species of fish but most anglers seek channel catfish, largemouth bass, striped bass and white crappie.

The creation of the lake has been a boon for area residents and visitors alike. It is the cornerstone of Coffeen Lake SFWA.
