Gen. Eli S. Parker

Gen. Eli Samuel Parker, nee Hasanoanda, was a pivotal figure in the negotiations with the U.S. over lands claimed by the Seneca Nation including the Buffalo Creek treaties in the late 1830s and early '40s.

During the Civil War, Parker was an aide-de-camp to Ulysses S. Grant and would later go on to become his nation's sachem (chief). At this time he chose to be known as Donehogawa.
