Granite City

Granite City, founded in 1896, is located in southwestern Illinois in Madison County just northeast of St Louis along Interstate 270 on the banks of the Mississippi River near Horseshoe Lake and Horseshoe Lake State Park. They fly 17 flags, one for each European nation from which the town's culture arose.

The town is on historic Route 66 and is on an Exploration Route of the Great River Road National Scenic Byway.

Granite City is home to Sanford-Brown College, the area's community college. Area recreation includes Arlington Golf Course, Rivers Edge Golf Course and Legacy Golf Course for those wanting to shoot a quick round.
