Lake Lou Yeager is a 1,500-acre impoundment with a 45-mile shoreline located in southwestern Illinois in Montgomery County just minutes east of Interstate 55. The lake is fed from the north by the west fork of Shoal Creek. The nearest sizeable populace is Litchfield about 5 miles to the southwest.
The lake, with its sandy beach, is used in a variety of ways including beach volleyball, swiming, boating and fishing. In addition, reenactments feature period costumes and knife- and tomahawk-throwing demonstrations.
