Mercy Hospital and Medical Center

Mercy is a Catholic teaching hospital located minutes from Chicago's Loop. As the city's first chartered hospital, Mercy enjoys a rich history of providing the area's most advanced medicine. Today, Mercy continues its mission with an innovative team of administrators and medical personnel. Innovations in patient care, teaching and research have earned Mercy a top slot among Chicago's leading hospitals.

Chicago Mayor, Richard J. Daley, also understood the importance of Mercy to Chicago. Through the Department of Urban Renewal, Daley helped Mercy acquire land so that Mercy would remain a part of Chicago. And in January of 1968, Chicago?s oldest hospital became its newest with the opening of a 517-bed facility.

Today, Mercy Hospital and Medical Center is part of a nation wide network of Mercy Healthcare facilities within reach of 75% of the American population. The history of Mercy is a rich strong history and it is growing even stronger today.
