Mermet Lake

The centerpiece of the Mermet Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area in Massac County, the 700-acre impound is located about one-half mile southwest of Mermet on U.S. 45. The entire refuge area encompasses over 2,600 acres.

The lake has largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, sunfish, channel catfish, buffalo, carp, and other sporting species.

Hunting opportunities include waterfowl, dove, deer, squirrel, rabbit, and quail.

There are two short hiking/interpretive trails in the area complete with tree identification markers.
