Pekin

Pekin is located in central Illinois in Tazewell County (of which it is the county seat) just south of Peoria along Highway 9 on the banks of the Illinois River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was about 32,000.

Powerton Lake SFWA, a 1,400-acre facility located about 2 miles southwest of town, provides area residents fishing and hunting opportunities. In addition, golfers will enjoy the challenge of Lick Creek Golf Course and Parkview Golf Course.
