Wildlife Prairie Park is a 2,000-acre facility located in north central Illinois in Peoria County about 5 miles west of Peoria 2 miles south of Interstate 74. The formal name for the park is The Hazel & Bill Rutherford Wildlife Prairie State Park.
This unique park is home to a variety of native flora and fauna including black bear, bison, bobcat, cougar, elk, otter, waterfowl, wolves and more. Several species of wildflowers dot the restored prairie and a butterfly garden is always a favorite among the visitors.
The park is open from early March through mid-December and offers overnight accommodations in the form of stables, the "Cabin on the Hill", cottages by the lake or a renavated caboose. Food service as well as meeting and banquet rooms are part of the total package.
