The Library, founded in 1771, was the first public library outside Dublin. It contains collections of 12th, 13th and 14th century manuscripts early printed books on different subjects and a small archaeological collection. It also contains a copy of Gulliver's Travels corrected in Swift's hand and the Claim of the Innocents - pleas made to Oliver Cromwell.
