Wexford is a seaport in southeast Ireland, the capital of County Wexford. It is on the south shore of the Slaney River estuary, some 72 miles south of Dublin. In 1906, an artificial harbor was constructed at Rosslare, six miles south.

Wexford was founded by the Danes in the 9th century. The city contains the ruins of the 12th-century Selski Abbey.
