Wexford is a seaport in southeast Ireland, the capital of County Wexford
. It is on the south shore of the Slaney River estuary, some 72 miles south of Dublin
. In 1906, an artificial harbor was constructed at Rosslare, six miles south.
Wexford was founded by the Danes in the 9th century. The city contains the ruins of the 12th-century Selski Abbey.
