Pop.4096 (1990) Elev.1386'. Located in the North Central Region of the state, in Mitchell County. (of which it is the County Seat), in the Solomon River valley. Beloit is along the Solomon River near Glen Elder State Park and Waconda Lake.

Originally homesteaded in 1866 and incorporated in 1872, Beloit began at the foot of Mill Street, at the Solomon River, where the Beloit Mill was built. Chautauqua Park, one of Kansas' prettiest, is located on the Solomon River, and offers visitors a chance to enjoy this natural beauty.
