Pop. Year 2000 Census: 285. Located in the Northwest Region region of the state, in western Thomas County. This rural community is located two miles north of I-70. The town is named for L.D. Brewster, Rock Island Railroad director.
A little local history; The song "Home on the Range" by Mr. Daniel E. Kelley, was penned and first played in the next county, (Smith County). Originally entitled: "The Western Home". The words were written from a poem that Dr. Brewster M. Higley had written when he was an early pioneer in Smith County, Kansas in 1871. Home on the Range is the official Kansas state song.
