Lake Fausse Pointe State Park lies poised in the edge of one of the great natural wonders of North America, the Atchafalaya Basin. A network of waterways and islands introduces you to this 6,127-acre oasis. Situated in the heart of a thriving French culture, the park was once a part of the basin, and the surrounding area was home to the Chitimacha Indians.
The park is a favorite with canoeists and anglers, as well as cyclists enjoying an outing down the leeve road or on the park's road system. This family-oriented facility offers 50 improved campsites, a primitive group campsite, 10 cabins, eight "Acadian-style" waterfront cabins with fishing piers, a country store and boat dock.
