Mississippi River

Known as "The Mighty Mississippi" this is the principal river in the United States. The Mississipi headwaters start at Itasca Park in Minnesota. Here a small footbridge spans the river which flows south for 2,350 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.

This river has inspired the minds of many poets and writers such as Samuel Clemens, better known as "Mark Twain" who wrote about youths growing up along the Mississippi.

Today you can still hitch a ride on a restored paddlewheeler and go back in time.
