The pecan orchard of Natchitoches Pecans takes in the picturesque Little Eva Plantation. This plantation, originally called Hidden Hill half a century ago, is said to be the real location that inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe's classic novel, Uncle Tom's Cabin. Today, Mark and Julie Swanson along with members of their family are the sole operators of this 400-acre pecan orchard where they tend the trees, harvest, clean, and prepare the pecans for market. This beautiful orchard is bounded by the Cane River on three sides. Natchitoches Pecan's bountiful harvest of Fancy Desirables, a variety of pecan large in size with a golden kernel and excellent taste, is produced year-round. Supplier to the Louisiana Pecan Festival held in Colfax 8 years in a row.
