The Oesling plateau is often considered to be part of the Ardennes -- the Ardennes in Belgium, the Oesling in Luxembourg, and the Eifel in Germany are roughly part of the same geographic region, just divided by national borders. This unforgiving forest covers the northern 32 percent of Luxembourgs territory. It is much less developed and less densely populated than the Gutland region in the south.
