The City of Brockton is in Plymouth County, 17 miles south of Boston between Randolph and Bridgewater along Highway 28 near Ames-Nowell State Park and Stonehill College. Once a major shoe manufacturing center, Brockton now supports more than 200 other industries.
D.W. Field Park, named after one of the city's shoe manufacturers, offers golfing, picnicking, and bicycling in the park's 700 acres of woods, ponds and gardens. In the vicinity are Massasoit Community College, Brockton Historical Society Museums, and Fuller Museum of Art. Brockton is part of the Brockton, Massachusetts metro area.
