Lenox is located in Berkshire County 7 miles S of Pittsfield along Highway 7A near October Mountain State Forest. Lenox is a Berkshire summer resort. A representative section of the Berkshires is preserved in Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Hiking trails traverse the area, and a museum contains exhibits about plants and wildlife. Shakespeare & Company, whose alumni include Richard Dreyfuss and Signourney Weaver, performs plays on four stages late May through late October.
