The college is named after the Great Sachem (Great Chief ) of the Wampanoag tribe at the time of the Pilgrims' arrival. Massasoit is considered to be the first Indian to negotiate an agreement of non-aggression and mutual assistance with the English. This treaty has been called the first formal act of diplomacy in the history of New England. Massasoit Community College provides quality programs designed for immediate entry into the workforce, or transfer to a baccalaureate degree program. With campuses in Brockton and Canton, the College's focus is to provide the people of the Metro South and Greater Boston regions with state of the art programs in applied technologies, human and public services, and health sciences.
