The historic Baltimore Zoo, recently renovated and covering 180 acres, is located less than 10 minutes from downtown Baltimore's Inner Harbor. More than 2,000 birds, mammals and reptiles are housed at the zoo, including a large breeding colony of African black-footed penguins, and other endangered and exotic species. Highlights include a zoo train, carousel, an African Safari Trail and Watering Hole, Chimpanzee Forest, and interactive children's zoo. Group rates available; facilities at the historic Mansion House may be rented for private functions by pre-arrangement.
