Bridgman is in Berrien County, and in the West-Southwest Region. Bridgman is located southwest of Kalamazoo between Benton Harbor and the Indiana state line along Interstate 94 near the St Joseph River. Situated on the shoreline of Lake Michigan.
Bridgman is part of the Benton Harbor, Michigan metro area.
The area now known as Bridgman was originally known as Plummer's Pier. In 1856, the Charlotteville Lumber Company renamed the village Charlotteville after one of the owner's wife, Charlotte. The town was then later changed to its current name by new owner George C. Bridgman, co-owner of the Charlotteville Lumber Company at the time.
Today, Bridgman still has many small town values that compliment this piece of history.
