Chelsea is located in Washtenaw County, and in the Southeast Region. You can locate Chelsea on Hwy 52 and west of Ann Arbor along I-94.
Chelsea was first settled in 1820 by Cyrus Beckwith, along with Elisha and James Congdon. The Michigan Central Railroad built a station here in 1850, which significantly established and sustaned its future. It was named by Elisha Congdon after his hometown - Chelsea, Mass.
