Harrison is in Clare County (of which it is the county seat), and in the Central Region. Harrison is located northwest of Bay City along US Highway 27 on the banks of the North Branch of the Tobacco River near Lily, Cranberry lakes and the Wilson State Park.
Harrison was named in honor of President William Harrison. This city began as a thriving lumber community in 1891 after being originally presented to Clare County by the Flint & Pere Marquette Railroad in 1879.
This community is supported mainly through tourism.
