Mancelona is in Antrim County, and in the Northern Region. This community is located on US Hwy 131, and southwest of Gaylord.

This village, incorporated in 1889, was named for the daughter of Perry Andress who first homesteaded here in 1869 with his family.

Today, Mancelona has two major events taking place annually: The Bass Festival in the spring and the White Pine Stampede in January, the Stampede attracts cross country skiers from around the world. The downtown area has been improved considerably through out the business district and the general appearance of the downtown area. Also near the downtown area is a large park with ball fields and a campground and a playground.
