Walter Reuther Psychiatric Hospital (WRPH) is a 210-bed state facility located in the city of Westland, approximately four miles north of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. WRPH services adult psychiatric inpatients, ages 43 and over. A variety of diagnoses are seen, including the range of affective and schizophrenic disorders. Clientele are treated on acute or chronic units as necessary, with the different units' lengths-of-stay varying from a few weeks to several years. A broad range of treatment services are offered including psychiatry, psychology, nursing, social work, general medicine, education, activity therapy (music therapy, recreation therapy, and occupational therapy) and pastoral care.
