Roscommon is in Roscommon County (of which it is the county seat), and in the Northern Region. This community is located southeast of Traverse City between Gaylord and West Branch along Interstate 75 on the banks of the South Branch Au Sable River near Higgins Lake.

This town is tucked away in a scenic area of sandy hills dressed with scrub pines. The pristine waters of the South Branch of the AuSable River flow through town. If youre a bird-watcher, this town is the gateway to Kirtlands Warbler country, just to the north.
