In the Historic Prairies Region, Ivanhoe is located in Lincoln County (of which it is the county seat). It sits on US 75 at Hwy 19, just short of the South Dakota line. Lake Shaokotan is nearby. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 709, a decrease of 42 since 1990.
