This is the restored Old Federal Courts Building, completed in 1902. The structure, built entirely of local materials, is of Romanesque Revival design; the South Tower is modeled after the Trinity Church in Boston. Features of the cultural center include an indoor courtyard that rises six floors to a skylight; a marble tile foyer; molded crossbeams; a Tudor fireplace; relief figures; stained-glass skylights; an auditorium; the Schubert Piano Museum, which offers free performances on Thursday at 1pm in the winter; and the Minnesota Museum of American Art. Building open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (also Thursday 5-8pm), Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 1-5pm; closed major holidays.
