Founded in 1924, this is a public liberal arts institution offering degrees in arts and sciences, business, education, health science, and nursing. There are 4 undergraduate and 4 graduate schools. The 274 acre campus is in a small town 110 miles south of Memphis Tennessee, and 130 miles north of Jackson. Including residence halls there are 45 buildings.

Fraternities, sororities and over 98 clubs and organizations are on campus. Tours of the campus are available. Delta State is a public institution, receiving primary funding from the state; however, it also seeks and receives support from private and federal sources, as well as tuition revenue. The University provides a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum, offering 15 baccalaureate degrees in 45 majors.
