Glendive is the seat of
Dawson County 27 miles west of
Wibaux on I-94 on the banks of the
Yellowstone River near the North Dakota state line in eastern Montana.
The Lewis & Clark Expedition spent their last night in Montana here by the Yellowstone in 1806, and General Custer camped here before he met his demise on the Little Big Horn.
Makoshika State Park is a quarter mile away.
