The Abbey Players began in 1883 as an academic theatre for Belmont Abbey College students and staff to learn and enjoy the craft of performance. With the addition of the Belmont Community Theatre in 1990, Abbey Players at Belmont now brings together the Gaston and Belmont Abbey communities for thought-provoking plays, stylish comedies, major musicals and an annual Shakespeare series.
